About
====================

Landing page for the proteins constituting the background calcium current (**CaB**).

This current was introduced by Luo and Rudy in order to make their model of the cardiomyocyte maintain calcium homeostasis, by counterbalancing the extrusion of calcium from the cytosol through the NCX.

In reality, little is known of such channels. They may be some variant of the transient receptor potential (TRP) channel, which exist on the plasma membrane (among other places) and show permeability to calcium.

Other name for this current: **Ca-leak**

Subfamilies
